Before editing an image in Mylio Photos, a Smart Preview or Original quality version must be available on the device you are using. Mylio Photos has three different photo quality sizes that can be stored on your devices: Thumbnails, Smart Previews, and Originals. Thumbnails cannot be fully edited (although you can apply a preset to a thumbnail), but Smart Previews and Originals are fully editable. Each photo size offers specific benefits, so let’s explore.
Working with Smart Preview Files
Mylio Photos can help save space on your devices by making optimized Smart Previews. These files take up significantly less disk space and are perfect for laptops, tablets, and phones where storage space may be limited. Smart Preview files are fully editable and offer the same editing flexibility as an original or Raw file.
Smart Previews are medium-quality files (1 MB or less) that give an accurate representation of your photo but take up only a fraction of the storage space. Edits made on a Smart Preview file in Mylio will be synced across all your connected devices and can be changed or reset at any time. Your edits will also seamlessly transfer to your Original files, which is useful when you want to use a higher-quality file to make larger prints.

Working with Original Files
An Original file simply means the type of file you added to Mylio Photos. These could be from a digital camera, smartphone, or scanned image. Original files are fully editable in Mylio Photos on all your devices.
Originals are full-quality files that vary in size but are often quite large and can take up significant hard-drive space. Originals may be one of many file formats including Raw, JPG, HEIC, and PNG.
Edits made in Mylio Photos on an Original file will be synced across all your connected devices and can be changed or reset at any time.
