White Balance defines the “true white” in a photo. Most cameras have a variety of white balance presets for different lighting situations, but in some cases, you may need to adjust the result.
If an image is too “cool” it will have a bluish color cast. If an image is too “warm” it will have a yellowish color cast. The White Balance adjustments can easily correct these issues.
To adjust white balance:
- Open an image in Single Photo View, then open the Edit Panel in the right panel.
- Locate the White Balance section, and if necessary open the section by clicking on the disclosure arrow next to White Balance.
- Adjust the Temp °K and Tint sliders to remove any unnatural color cast.
Temp °K –Temp °K refers to the color temperature of the light which is measured in degrees Kelvin. This slider warms or cools an image by adding blue or yellow to change the color temperature.
To change temperature:
- If your image is too blue, move the Temp °K slider to the right. You will notice the blue disperse and the yellow increase.
- If your image is too yellow, move the Temp °K slider to the left. You will notice the yellow disperses and the blue increase.
Tint – The Tint slider adjusts the amount of green or magenta in an image.
- To increase the green in your image, move the Tint slider to the left.
- To decrease the green in your image, move the Tint slider to the right.
