When you launch Mylio Photos for the first time, you’ll see a short welcome message. After clicking the blue arrow to continue, you’ll be prompted to sign in to your Mylio Account.
Enter the email address and password you used when you created your Mylio Account or click the Sign up link to create a new account.
Once you’ve logged in you’ll be shown step-by-step instructions to choose the location of your Mylio Library Folder and set up your first device.
What Is the Mylio Library Folder?
The Mylio Library Folder can be a new or existing folder on a local drive and will be the default location for any future imports. Photos stored in this folder will show in your Mylio Photos app.
Where Should My Mylio Library Folder Be Located?
The location you choose for your Mylio Library Folder should have plenty of available storage for additional photos, so you don’t run out of storage space over time. External hard drives and desktop computers with a lot of storage space are great locations for your Mylio Library Folder. Click here to learn more about hard drives and data storage options.
Should I Use an Existing Folder or Create a New Folder?
This choice depends largely on how you’re currently managing your photos.
If you are new to organizing your photos and need to consolidate your images from several locations, creating a new folder is the best option.
Creating a new folder gives you a fresh start and a central location to store future photos and videos. You can add media from existing hard drives and memory cards to this central location. If you’re trying to consolidate all your photos into a new storage device – like a new drive – this is also a good option. Just create the new folder on that storage device.
If you have already started the organization process, you may have many of your photos sorted into folders on a hard drive. If you prefer to have your future photos and videos added to your current file structure, we recommend choosing an existing folder for your Mylio Library Folder. This method is perfect for those who are adding Mylio Photos to a photo-editing workflow that may include third-party applications.
Once you’ve selected the location for your Mylio Library Folder, Mylio Photos will complete its initial setup and give you the option to install the Sample Library. The Sample Library is a great way to explore Mylio Photos’ tools and features. If you skip this step during the setup process, you can add the Sample Library at a later time, and easily remove it when you’re ready to start working with your own images.
