Adding a Linked Folder tells Mylio Photos to watch it in your file system without moving it from its original location. Linked Folders preserve your existing file structure and are actively monitored for changes. If you add photos to a Linked Folder, Mylio will automatically import the new additions. This is the most helpful way to add images to Mylio Photos already on a hard drive, especially if other applications reference them.

  1. Click the Add Media icon in the top app bar.
  2. Select Add media accessible from this device. A Windows Explorer or macOS Finder window will open. Navigate to the folder you wish to add, then click Open.
  3. Select Link them in the How do you want to get these photos into Mylio? dialog.
  4. Confirm the folder you want to link, then click or tap the Link Now button.

Hi Veikko - Linking isn’t possible from iOS devices. The only option on iOS is to copy a folder. To link a folder, you’ll need to add it from a computer (Windows or macOS).

I am using Mylio on a iPad Pro and would like to view the photos in my catalogue on an external disk. However, I cannot find an option to Link a Folder under Add Media. Is this option unavailable when using Mylio on an iPad?

Hi David - Yes, when you add a linked folder, all subfolders inside that folder will be added to your Mylio Photos Library.

When I import a folder from Windows Explorer using the link method, does Mylio automatically import any sub-folders?
