- From the Copy/Move dialog, click Show Advanced Settings, then scroll down.
- Toggle the switch next to Apply IPTC card on Import to ON.
- Rename Files During Import
-
- From the Copy/Move dialog, click Show Advanced Settings, then scroll down.
- Mylio Photos will import media with their existing file names by default. If you’d prefer to rename your files, click Keep existing file names next to File naming.
- Choose from the following options:
- Prefix-Sequence, Year-Month-Day-Sequence, Year-Month-Sequence, Camera-Sequence, or Custom.
- Advanced Folder Organization Options
-
When importing media into Mylio Photos, the Folder Organization settings control how files and folders are handled at the destination. These options fall into two main categories:
- Preserve the existing folder structure
- Reorganize files into a new folder structure
Choosing the right option depends on whether your media is already organized or needs to be cleaned up during import.
Option 1: Preserve Existing Folder Structure
Use these options when your files are already organized the way you want, or when you need to maintain the original folder hierarchy.
Add Contents of Selected Folder
- Imports everything inside the selected folder.
- The selected folder itself is not included.
- All files, folders, and subfolders inside the folder are copied to the destination.
- Best when:
- You want to merge the contents into an existing folder structure.
- You don’t want an extra top-level folder added.
Add Selected Folder as New Item
- Imports the selected folder and everything inside it.
- The entire folder (including all subfolders and files) is copied as a single item.
- Best when:
- You want to keep a folder intact.
- You want the selected folder to appear as its own top-level folder in the destination.
Option 2: Reorganize Files into a New Folder Structure
Use these options when importing unorganized media or files coming directly from a camera memory card.
- Files are reorganized into a new folder structure based on the option you choose.
Available Folder Structures
- Year / Month / Day – Creates folders by capture date, organized down to the day level.
- Year / Month – Groups files by year and month.
- Year – Places all files into folders by year only.
- Day – Organizes files by day, regardless of year.
- Current Date – Places all imported files into a folder using today’s date.
- Custom – Lets you define your own folder naming structure using available date and metadata fields.
Choosing the Right Approach
Already organized? Use one of the Preserve Existing Folder Structure options.
