When you copy a folder into Mylio Photos, you create a new version of its contents—photos, videos, and any subfolders—inside a location already managed by Mylio. This process leaves the original folder untouched on your internal or external drive, while making a duplicate set available in your Mylio Photos Library.

Copying is a great option if you want to consolidate your media into Mylio’s folder structure for better organization or syncing, but still keep an original copy in its current location.

  1. Click the Add Media icon in the top app bar.
  2. Choose Add media accessible from this device. A file browser window (Windows Explorer or macOS Finder) will open.
  3. Navigate to the folder you want to copy, then click Open.
  4. In the How do you want to get these photos into Mylio Photos? dialog, select Copy Folder Contents.
  5. In the Copy files dialog:
    • Source: Confirm the folder you selected.
    • Destination: Choose a location already managed by Mylio Photos where the copied folder will be saved.
    • Categories (optional): Assign relevant categories to help organize imported media.
    • Exclude suspected duplicate files: Enabled by default. Keeps Mylio from copying files that already exist in your library.
    • Delete files after adding them: Disabled by default. Turn this on only if you want to remove the original files after copying.
    • Show Advanced Settings: Expand for more organization options and to include additional metadata during import. Learn more.
  6. Click Copy Now to begin copying your folder into your Mylio Photos Library.
