The Devices Panel in the Dashboard is where you see every device connected to your Mylio Photos account. From here, you can add new devices, review the status of existing devices, and remove devices that are no longer in use. This view is the central place for managing how your library is stored, synced, and protected across your system.
Accessing the Devices View
Click the Dashboard icon in the left sidebar, the select Devices. This panel displays all devices associated with your account, organized by category, and provides quick access to controls for adding and managing devices.
Adding Devices
At the top of the Devices panel, you’ll see options for adding new devices:
- Add Device – Add a computer, phone, tablet, or external drive.
- Add Vault – Add a storage device and designate it as a Vault.
- Add Mylio Drive – Appears if Mylio Drive has not yet been enabled.
- Add Guest Device – Available for Family and Team plans.
These options allow you to expand your library to new devices or add additional storage to protect your photos. For step-by-step instruction, see Adding Devices.
Device Cards
Each connected device appears as a device card. Device cards provide essential information at a glance and allow you to open full settings for each device. At the top of the list, you’ll see This Device, which displays the information for the device you are currently using.
Device Groups
Below This Device, additional devices are grouped by type:
- Computers
- Mobile Devices
- Drives & Clouds
- Guest Devices (Family & Teams)
Groups appear only when applicable. For example, if no mobile devices are connected to your account, the Mobile Devices section will not display.
What Device Cards Show
Each device card displays a high-level summary of that device’s status, including:
- Device Name
- Connection Status
- Online – Connected directly (e.g., computer, tablet, phone)
- Attached – Physically attached device (e.g., external drive)
- Relay – Connected via the internet
- Available – Online, but unable to communicate with other devices
- Pending – Waiting to be connected
- Offline – Not connected
- Vault badge (if designated as a Vault)
- Sync status, such as fully synced or needing media from another device
- Notifications, including:
- Unprotected Media
- Disk Storage Full
- Upgrade Needed
- Syncing Disabled
- Plan Expired

Below are examples of notifications and badges you may see:
This device is online, in sync, but has media that has not yet been backed up to all Vault devices because one or more Vaults is offline.
This device needs media from other devices, and some of that media is on devices that are currently offline. Click the arrow
to view details about which files are waiting to sync, and which device needs to be brought online to complete sync.
This device has been designated as a Vault.
This device’s storage is full and cannot sync media. Click here for troubleshooting suggestions.
This device has been set to Limited Access Mode
Syncing is paused because this device is attached to an account with an expired Mylio Photos+ subscription. To continue syncing, visit https://account.mylio.com to renew your subscription.
This device has been invited as a Guest Device and the invitation has not yet been accepted by the recipient.
This device is running a previous version of Mylio Photos needs an upgrade. Click here for instructions to update computers and mobile devices. All other devices, such as external drives, Cloud drives, etc., will update automatically when connected.
Syncing has been manually disabled on this device. To resume syncing, click the Device Card to open the Device Details, and scroll down to the Sync Settings, then toggle the switch next to Sync to the ON position.
Viewing Device Details
To manage a device, click anywhere on the main portion of its card. This opens the Device Details panel, which provides access to all settings for that device.
Device Details include:
- Device Details
- Device Name – Editable name used within Mylio Photos (does not change the OS device name).
- Date Added – When the device joined your Mylio Photos account.
- Library Size on Disk – Amount of space used by the Mylio Photos Library on that device.
- System Photo Library (macOS only) – Storage used by the Apple Photos System Library.
- Storage Info
- Device Storage – Controls for how much storage Mylio Photos may use.
- Clear Cache – Removes temporary files to free space.
- Sync Details
- Sync Status
Green Checkmark – Fully Synced
Up Arrow – This device has media needed by another device
Down Arrow – This device needs media from another device.
- Last Connected – When this device was last connected with your library.
- Device Sync Policies – Controls whether the device stores Thumbnails, Optimized Images, or Originals.
- Show Media to Sync – Opens all media still pending for the selected device.
- Unsupported Files – Show files recognized by not displayable in Mylio Photos. (See Working With Unsupported Files)

- Linked Folders – Folders monitored by Mylio Photos.
- Current Space – Switch between purpose-specific views for the selected device.
- Device Logs – Adjust log levels for diagnostic purposes.
- Sync Settings – Additional sync and configuration options.
- External Changes Policy – How Mylio Photos handles file system changes on that device.
Viewing Syncing Details
The lower portion of each device card shows the device’s current sync status. Clicking the caret opens the Syncing Details panel. Syncing Details provides a detailed breakdown of what still needs to sync.
Syncing Details may include:
- Types of files waiting to sync (Originals, Optimized, Thumbnails, XMP)
- Files needed from ONLINE devices
- Files needed from OFFLINE devices
- Number of new files to sync
- Number of existing files to update
Click any number in the list to view the related media, then use the back arrow to return to the Syncing Details panel.
This view helps you understand how files move between your devices and gives visibility into progress toward a fully syned library.
