Free Up Space on Camera Roll or Media Library

If you’re running out of storage on your mobile device, Mylio Photos can help! The Free Up Space on This Device tool is designed to safely clear media from your Camera Roll or Media Library after verifying that the Original files are securely backed up to another device in your Mylio Photos+ setup.

When you use the Free Up Space tool:

• Mylio Photos checks that each photo or video has been safely synced in full quality to at least one other device (such as a Vault or another computer).
• Only media that is fully protected will be eligible for removal from your Camera Roll or Media Library.
• Your photos and videos will continue to be viewable inside the Mylio Photos app on all of your devices.

!WARNING: If you are using iCloud Photos (formerly iCloud Photo Library), deleting media from your Camera Roll will also remove it from iCloud and from Apple Photos on any other device signed in with the same Apple ID. After using Free Up Space, you will need to use the Mylio Photos app to access these photos and videos.

By ensuring your Originals are securely stored elsewhere before deletion, Mylio Photos makes it easy to reclaim storage space while keeping your full-quality photos safe and accessible within your Mylio library.

1. Click the More Menu icon in the top app bar, and choose Settings.
2. Tap Free up space on this device, then click Continue with the default settings, or click Customize.
   • Default settings include:
     • Photos and videos taken within the last 30 days will not be deleted.
     • Photos and videos deleted from within Mylio Photos will not be deleted from your device.
     • Mylio Photos will automatically ask if you’d like to repeat this process every 30 days.
3. Mylio Photos will scan your device and tell you how many files can be safely deleted and how much storage it will free up.
4. Tap the Free up space button to confirm.

Customize Options

Delete media older than – Keep your most recent photos and videos on hand by only deleting media older than the specified time. Choose from All Media, 7 Days, 14 Days, 30 Days, 60 Days, 90 Days, or Don’t Delete.

Delete media deleted in Mylio Photos – Toggle this switch to the ON position to delete items from your camera roll that have been deleted from within Mylio Photos.

Repeat Every – Schedule Mylio Photos to repeat this process to keep your device’s storage optimized. Choose from 7 Days, 14 Days, 30 Days, 60 Days, 90 Days, or Never.

SD Card Access – Give Mylio Photos permission to free up space on external storage folders.
