Device Settings let you customize how each device on your account is set up.

  1. Click the Dashboard icon  in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Devices, then click or tap on a Device Card to open the Device Settings.
  3. Customize the settings below to best fit each device and your workflow.

Disconnect

Click the Disconnect button to eject an external drive while Mylio Photos is running. This will allow you to eject the drive from your computer without quitting and restarting the application.

Device Details

The Device Details section displays the name of your device, the date it was added to Mylio Photos, and the Mylio Photos version number currently installed. Click into the text field next to the device icon to change the Device Nickname. This changes the device’s display name in Mylio Photos but does not change the device name in your file system.

Sync Details

The Sync Details section displays the current sync status for the selected device, the date it was last connected, and the connection type.

Click on Device Sync Policies to view and change the sync policy preset, or assign a custom sync policy for the selected device.

Click the magnifying glass icon next to Unprotected Files to display all files that have not been backed up to at least two Vault devices. The Unprotected Files option will be hidden if all your media has been backed up to at least two Vault devices.

Click the magnifying glass icon next to Lost Originals to view the thumbnail or optimized image that does not have a corresponding original quality file in your Mylio Photos Library. Lost Originals are caused when the original version of a file is deleted outside of the Mylio Photos+ application before it was fully synced. This option will be hidden if your library does not contain Lost Originals.

Click the magnifying glass icon next to Unsupported Files to view all files stored on the selected device that Mylio Photos does not support. Typically, these are Raw files from an unsupported camera. This option will be hidden if your library does not contain Unsupported Files.

Click the magnifying glass icon next to Show Files to Sync to view any media currently waiting to sync to the selected device. The Show Files to Sync option will be hidden if your device is fully in sync.

Sources

Click Linked Folders to view all top-level folders in your library that live on this device.

Current Space

Click the Space dropdown menu to change the default Space for the selected device.

Device Logs

Adjust the Log Capture Level slider to select the detail level of the logs captured by Mylio Photos. In most cases, the default setting of Normal is appropriate and will not need to be changed unless you’re instructed to do so by Mylio Support.

Sync Settings

Toggle the Sync switch to turn syncing on or off between your devices.

Toggle the Sync on Demand switch to turn on or off temporarily syncing photos viewed on this device but not regularly stored here.

Toggle the Sync using Cellular switch to turn on or off syncing your photos and catalog using cellular data. When enabled, you may incur data charges.

Toggle the Sync with Cloud Services switch to turn on or off syncing with all cloud services.

Toggle the Sync over IP V6 switch to turn on or off syncing over IP V6.

Toggle the Sync Panel switch to turn on or off, viewing the Sync Panel in the Right Panel.

Sync Panel View provides options for customizing the Sync Panel.=

  • Choose to Show All or only Online Devices.
  • Choose to view a Full or Compact overview of each Device.

Storage Info

Click on Device Storage to view and manage the available storage space on your device.

Click the Clear Cache button to remove unnecessary files and free up storage space on your device. This can be useful if your Device Sync Policy has changed, as there may be optimized or original quality images that are no longer needed.

Host Details

For storage devices such as external drives, the Host Details section will specify which viewing device the storage device is connected to and the folder path to the Mylio folder on that device.

Vault Migration – The Vault Migration option will be visible if a Vault device is nearing capacity. Click the magnifying glass icon to get a capacity recommendation for a replacement Vault device and instructions for adding a new one.

Safe Delete guards against data loss if photos and video files are deleted outside of the Mylio Photos+ application and will attempt to restore the deleted file from another device that has an original quality version. This option is ON by default to protect you from erasing images from your Mylio Photos Library. However, you may want to turn it OFF if you plan to clean up unwanted files outside of Mylio Photos+ to reclaim disk space.

Unregister Device

Clicking Unregister Device will completely remove the device from Mylio Photos+ and your Mylio Account. Do not choose this option unless you are sure.
