In addition to the export options shared earlier in this chapter, macOS and iOS users have a couple of additional choices: sharing to Messages and AirDrop. These options make it easy to share photos via text message from your computer or with another Apple device nearby.

Sharing with Messages and AirDrop from a macOS Computer

Sharing with Messages on macOS

Messages on macOS allows you to send text messages to users with an iCloud account (via iMessage) or to wireless phone users (via SMS/MMS) if you have an iPhone associated with your iCloud account to relay the message.

  1. Select your photo(s): Choose a single image or a series of images that you’d like to send via Messages.
  2. Click the Share icon in the right sidebar and choose Messages.
  3. The first time you share to email, you’ll be prompted to choose an export preset or manually select your export options (file format, size, etc.). These settings will be saved as the default for future exports. If you need to adjust them for any export, tap the settings icon .
  4. Click the Create Message button to launch the Messages app. Enter the recipient’s name or phone number and click Send.

Sharing with AirDrop on macOS

AirDrop on macOS allows you to wirelessly share photos with nearby macOS and iOS users.

  1. Select your photo(s): Choose a single image or a series of images that you’d like to send via AirDrop.
  2. Click the Share icon in the right sidebar and choose AirDrop.
  3. The first time you share to email, you’ll be prompted to choose an export preset or manually select your export options (file format, size, etc.). These settings will be saved as the default for future exports. If you need to adjust them for any export, tap the settings icon .
  4. Click the Share button to launch AirDrop. Select the nearby user you wish to share with to initiate the transfer.

Sharing with Messages and AirDrop from an iPhone or iPad

Sharing with Messages on an iPhone or iPad
  1. Select your photo(s): Choose a single image or a series of images that you’d like to send via Messages.
  2. Tap the Share icon , the choose Share to access iOS share menu.
  3. The first time you share on your mobile device, you’ll be prompted to choose an export preset or manually select your export options (file format, size, etc.). These settings will be saved as the default for future exports. If you need to adjust them for any export, tap the settings icon , make any necessary adjustments, then click Continue.
  4. Select the Messages app to create a new message with your selected image(s) attached.

Sharing with AirDrop on an iPhone or iPadS
  1. Select your photo(s): Choose a single image or a series of images that you’d like to send via AirDrop.
  2. Tap the Share icon , the choose Share to access iOS share menu.
  3. The first time you share on your mobile device, you’ll be prompted to choose an export preset or manually select your export options (file format, size, etc.). These settings will be saved as the default for future exports. If you need to adjust them for any export, tap the settings icon , make any necessary adjustments, then click Continue.
  4. Select the AirDrop app, then select the nearby user you wish to share with to initiate the transfer.

Sharing Photos of People via Messages

If you’ve used Mylio Photos facial recognition to tag friends and family and then added contact information for those people, you can use PhotoExplorer to share a single photo or quickly create a text message with every photo you’ve tagged with them in.

  1. Click the People icon , and select a person.
  2. Open the Info Panel.
    • On a computer or iPad, click the info icon at the top of the right sidebar to reveal the right panel and access the Info Panel.
    • On an iPhone, tap the horizontal three-dot icon to open the More menu, then choose Info.
  3. Click on the chat bubble icon at the top of the Info Panel to create a text message with every photo that person is tagged in.
