Clipboard – The Mylio Clipboard allows you to temporarily store photos while moving them between folders, albums, and other views.

Date Range – If the date and time setting on a photo is incorrect, but you don’t know the exact date it was captured, you can set a Date Range. This allows you to pick a range of dates rather than a specific date and time. For example, you could assign a photo the date range of July through September in 1986 for photos in the Summer of 1986, or November 20 through December 31, 2021 for photos during the Holidays in 2021.

These adjustments are applied nondestructively, meaning they can be revised easily in the future. Your edits will also sync across all devices in your Mylio network.
Event – Events in Mylio are based on a date or range of dates. When you create an Event, all photos from the specified date(s) will be grouped together when viewing them in the Calendar view. An example of an event could be a week-long family vacation.

This personalized view happens automatically when you link an online calendar to Mylio. It’s a unique way to automate some organization, and easily see and find memorable life events in a fun-to-browse way.
Linked Folder – A Linked Folder is actively monitored for changes. If you add a Linked Folder, Mylio watches it in your file system without moving it from its original location. If you add photos to a Linked Folder, Mylio will automatically import the new additions. This is the most useful way to add images to Mylio that are already on a hard drive, especially if other applications are already referencing them.
Lost Original – If Mylio cannot locate a copy of an Original photo it will show this file as a Lost Original. Lost Originals are caused when the Original version of a file is deleted outside of Mylio before it was fully Synced.
Map Panel – The Map Panel in the Details Panel allows you to view location information or assign a new location to a photo or set of photos.
Map View – The Map View organizes photos by location on a world map. Mylio does this automatically for photos that have GPS metadata.
Menu Bar – The Menu Bar is computer-specific and can be found along the top of the Mylio window (Windows) or along the top of your computer screen (macOS).
Metadata – Metadata is information that describes your image file. Some metadata is added automatically from your camera, such as the capture date, camera model, lens, and settings used. Other metadata can be added or edited manually, such as copyright information, keywords, ratings, and more.
Mylio Hotspot – A Mylio Hotspot allows you to create a private network to sync your devices when internet access is not available. See also Peer-to-peer.
Mylio Library – The Mylio Library is the full collection of your media, edits, and metadata that is viewable from all your Mylio-synced devices.

Preview – A Preview is a medium-quality version of your photo that gives a good representation of your photo while taking up a fraction of the storage space necessary for the Original. Previews are great for Laptops and Tablets and are fully editable. If your Original file was a Raw format, that information can be adapted to the Preview file as well, in order to offer greater flexibility when editing.
Protection – Protecting your memories is an integral part of Mylio and begins with creating a complete copy of every photo and file in your Mylio Library in a Vault. Vaults can be any device that has enough available storage to hold your entire photo library. Common devices for Vaults are external drives, cloud storage providers, and desktop computers. Using more than one Vault provides a backup method to protect you from device failure or loss.
Quick Actions Bar – The Quick Actions Bar gives you access to icons for actions including Rating & Tagging, Share/Export, Rotate Left, Face Tagging/Batch Tagging, Delete, Add New, Show/Hide Details Panel, Zoom, Clipboard, and Actions Menu.
Rating – Clicking on the Tag icon in the Quick Actions Bar will expand the Rating bar and allows you to easily tag photos with star ratings, color labels, and flags. Adding ratings makes it faster to find the images you’re looking for with search and filters.
Raw – Raw image files contain the data directly captured by a camera sensor.
Search – Clicking the magnifying glass icon above the Navigation Bar allows you to search through your photos and folders using keywords, ratings, people, map locations, recent imports, and pinned searches.

Tag – Tagging a photo or file adds information to it. Mylio has three types of tags: Batch Tag, Face Tag, and Geotag.
Thumbnail – A Thumbnail is a small version of your photo that is typically used for referencing your full library. Thumbnails are ideal for mobile devices, but do not allow editing.
Undated – Undated refers to a photo without a date. Changing the Capture Time & Date to Undated in the Details panel will remove all date and time metadata from the selected images.
Undo – To undo a change, use the keyboard shortcut Cmd + Z (macOS) or Ctrl + Z (Windows) to step backward. You can also step back using the Actions Menu > Undo or right-click > Undo.
Unprotected Media – Images displayed in the Dashboard or Sync Panel as Unprotected means that the photos are not yet synced to all the devices that want them.
Unsupported Media – Mylio supports a wide range of files including photos, documents, PDFs, videos, and more. We are constantly working to expand the types of files that can be imported to Mylio. In some cases, you may encounter Unsupported Media files that Mylio cannot import or files Mylio cannot read.
Vault – A Vault in Mylio is any device that stores a complete copy of all files and photos in your Mylio Library. It is highly recommended that you add more than one Vault to your library to add redundancy to your photo backup system.
View Menu – Clicking the View Menu icon in the Navigation Bar allows you to access Mylio’s main Settings and Help Menu.
XMP File – XMP files (extensible metadata platform) are an industry-standard format for holding additional information about your photos. Mylio utilizes XMP files to move, edit, and file information between your devices.
