The first time you sign in to Mylio, you’ll be given step-by-step instructions to get started and asked to decide where you want to store your Mylio Library Folder. We’ll discuss some of the options below to help you make the best choice.

What is the Mylio Library Folder?

The Mylio Library Folder will be your default location for any future imports into Mylio.

Where Should My Mylio Library Folder be Located?

Make sure the location you choose for your Mylio Library Folder has plenty of available storage for additional photos, so you don’t run out of storage space over time. External hard drives and desktop computers with a lot of storage space are great locations for your Mylio Library Folder. Click here to learn more about hard drives and data storage options.

Should I Use an Existing Folder or Create a New Folder?

This choice depends on largely on how you’re currently managing your photos.

If you are new to organizing your photos and need to consolidate your images from several locations, creating a new folder is the best option.

Creating a new folder gives you a fresh start and a central location to store future photos and videos. You can import media from existing hard drives and memory cards into this central location. If you’re trying to consolidate all your photos into a new storage device – like a new drive – this is also a good option. Just create the new folder on that storage device.

If you have already started the organization process, you may have many of your photos sorted into folders on a hard drive. If you prefer to have your future photos and videos added to your current file structure, we recommend choosing an existing folder for your Mylio Library Folder. This method is perfect for those who are adding Mylio to a photo-editing workflow that may include third-party applications.

Once you’ve selected the location for your Mylio Library Folder, Mylio will complete its initial setup then open the Mylio Dashboard so you can get started!
