Spaces allow you to sort and organize files into subject-specific views. When sharing your library, you can switch to the Guest Space or create a Custom Space with Mylio Photos+ for trusted collaborators to use on their personal devices. It also allows you to set a PIN code and limit access to people viewing your library on a particular device.
Enabling the Guest Space is perfect for handing your phone to a friend so they can flip through photos from your recent vacation. Custom Spaces are well suited for sharing a Mylio Photos+ account with trusted collaborators, such as your household, extended family members working on an ancestry project, or small business.
Once Custom Spaces have been created and configured, they can be assigned to different devices connected to your Mylio Photos+ account. This can be done locally on each device, or using Remote Control from any device or user with the Master Passcode.
With Spaces, You Can:
- Create custom settings for each device connected to your Mylio Photos+ account.
- Remotely manage and adjust the Space used on each device.
- Have granular control over which panels are visible.
- Control options like sharing, editing, and tagging.
Enabling the Guest Space
The Guest Space can be helpful when handing your device to a friend or family member so they can browse your library. The Guest Space displays the same media as the Public Space (everything except media marked with the Private Category, or hidden files and folders).
- Click the Spaces icon in the left sidebar.
- Select the Guest Space. Depending on your privacy and security settings for Spaces, you may be asked to enter a PIN code to switch between Spaces.
- When you’re done, switch to another Space and enter your PIN code to confirm.
Sharing Your Library With Users on Other Devices
Spaces allow you to control information shared with others using your Mylio Photos+ account on different devices. Here are a few examples:
- Household Sharing
-
This is an example of how Mylio Photos+ Spaces could be used to share an account with family members in a household.
Spouse 1 – Mylio Photos+ account administrator with access to everything.
Spouse 2 – Only wants to see their photos and media marked with the Family category but can adjust all account parameters if desired or view different Spaces.
Child 1 (teenager) – Only wants to see their photos and media marked with the Family category and has limited access to tag People, create Albums, and Edit, but cannot delete media, assign Categories, or change Spaces.
Child 2 (younger) – Only wants to see their photos and media marked with the Family category. However, they cannot modify the files and can only browse specific views (such as All Photos, Calendar, and People).- Assign the Family Category to media you want accessible by every family member.
- Create a Custom Category for each family member. Assign these Categories to folders using Tap to Categorize to indicate who should have access. For example, Spouse 1’s Category should be applied to the folder where their phone photos are saved under Apple Photos or Android Photos so they have access to their own photos.
- Create a QuickCollection for each family member that includes the category for their name and the Family Category.
- Create a Custom Space for each family member that includes their personal QuickCollection.
- Select the appropriate User Role preset to apply commonly used settings and permissions, then customize as desired. For this example, we’ll apply the following User Role presets for each household member:
- Spouse 1 & 2 – Photo Manager
- Child 1 – Teen
- Child 2 – Child
- Family History Workgroup

Family Member 2 (sibling, cousin, etc.) – Has access to a Custom Space called “Family History” with permission to add new photos, edit metadata, and tag People, but cannot delete files or change to a different Space.

- Create a Custom Space for each family member that includes the Family History category.
- Select the appropriate User Role preset to apply commonly used settings and permissions, then customize as desired. For this example, we’ll apply the following User Role presets for each household member:
