Understanding Sorting Options
Mylio Photos offers four ways to sort media within an album, each serving a different purpose:
Name
Sorts media alphabetically based on the file name. This option is useful when you have a structured naming convention, such as:
- Event-based files (e.g., Wedding_001.jpg, Wedding_002.jpg)
- Scanned photos that follow a specific labeling pattern
- Numbered sequences used in a series
Date Created
Sorts media chronologically based on when the photo or video was originally captured. This is ideal for:
- Viewing images in the order they were taken, such as a vacation or family gathering
- Organizing time-based projects, like a timelapse or photo journal
- Ensuring older scanned images maintain their historical sequence
Rating
Sorts media from highest to lowest rating based on your assigned star ratings. This option is helpful for:
- Highlighting your best photos in an album
- Prioritizing top-rated images for a slideshow or presentation
- Filtering out lower-rated images for quick selections
Manual
Allows you to drag and drop media into a custom order. This is useful when:
- Creating a personalized sequence for a presentation or slideshow
- Arranging images to tell a specific story
- Fine-tuning the order for a print layout or social media post
All options except Manual allow the user to choose between ascending and descending order, giving additional flexibility in how media is displayed.
Adjusting a Manual Sort Order
If you choose Manual sorting, you can rearrange media by dragging images into your preferred order. This customization is saved within the album, ensuring your sequence remains intact across devices.
