While Tap to Categorize is the fastest way to apply Categories to Folders, Albums, and People, you can also assign or edit Categories for individual photos, videos, and documents using the Info Panel. Additionally, Categories can be applied during import when using the Copy or Move options.
- Select one or more items in grid view or open a single image in detail view. (This can include photos, videos, or documents.)
- Click the Info icon
at the top of the right sidebar to open the Info Panel.
- Scroll down to the Categories section and click the plus icon
to view the list of available Categories.
- Check the box next to each Category you want to assign.
- To create a new custom category, click the pencil icon

- To create a new custom category, click the pencil icon
- Click Apply when finished.
If a Folder is selected, you’ll also see the option to enable or disable File Inheritance in the Info Panel:
- When File Inheritance is turned ON (default), all files and subfolders within the selected folder will automatically inherit the applied Categories.
- To prevent inherited tagging, toggle File Inheritance to the OFF position for the selected folder.
