Mylio Photos gives you full control over how your media is organized by allowing you to create new folders directly within the app. Whether you’re starting from scratch or integrating existing folders from your computer or external drives, Mylio makes it easy to structure your library the way you prefer.

You can create:

  • Top-level folders to serve as major organizational buckets.
  • Subfolders within any existing folder to further refine your file structure.

Adding a new Top Level Folder

You can add new top-level folders to organize your media exactly how you want within the Folders View. These folders can be newly created or added (linked) from existing locations on your device.

To create a new top-level folder:

  1. From the top level of the Folders View, click the New Folder icon in the right sidebar.
    • Alternatively, right-click in an open area and select New Folder, or go to the Organize menu in the OS menu bar and choose New Folder.

  1. Enter a name for the folder.
  2. Optionally, apply any Categories.
  3. Click Create.

To link to an existing folder on your device:

  1. Follow the same steps as above to open the New Folder dialog.
  2. Instead of creating a new folder, click Choose Existing.

  1. In the macOS Finder or Windows Explorer dialog, navigate to and select the folder you want to add. This will open the Add Media dialog.
  2. Select Link a Folder

  1. Apply any relevant Categories, then click Link Now.

Choose a section for your folder:

After creating or linking a folder, you’ll be prompted to place it in a section:

  • To create a new section, click New Section.
  • To use an existing section, select it and click Select.
  • Click Cancel to place your folder in the default Mylio Photos Library, My Family Library, or My Team Library section, depending on your account type.

Your new folder will appear in the selected section of the Folders View and is ready for use.

Adding a Subfolder

  1. Click the Folders icon in the left sidebar.
  2. Click the Navigation icon to open the folder tree.
  3. In the folder tree, select the folder where you want to add a subfolder.
  4. Click the New Folder button at the bottom of the folder tree.

  1. Enter a name for your new folder and assign any relevant Categories, then click Create.

  1. Your new subfolder will appear inside the folder you selected.
