The Mylio Photos cache is a temporary holding area used when sync settings are adjusted. For example, if you’ve used Sync on Demand to temporarily access an optimized or original-quality (full-resolution) image on a device set to keep the Catalog Only, that media will be stored in the cache. The same applies if you’ve used Tap to Sync to change the sync policy for a specific folder.
Cached files are indicated by a green squiggly line in the Sync Panel. This means the device holds media (or higher-quality versions of media) that it doesn’t need to keep permanently based on your sync policy.
If your device is set to SpaceSaver, Mylio Photos will automatically monitor and manage the cache when your device is low on storage. However, you can also manually clear cached files to free up space right away.
Clear Cache from the Dashboard
- Click the Dashboard icon
in the left sidebar.
- Select Devices, then click the Device Card of the device you want to manage.
- Click the Clear Cache button.
- A prompt will show the number of optimized and original-quality images that can be removed. You’ll have the option to check boxes for Optimized and/or Originals*—choose one or both depending on what you’d like to clear. Click *Remove to confirm and remove the selected files.
Selectively Clear Cached Files
- Select the image(s) you want to clear from the cache.
- Right-click your selection or tap the Actions Menu icon
in the right sidebar, then select Photo > Clear Cache.
- In the Clearing Cache Files dialog, choose one of the following:
- Selected Files Only – Clears cached versions only for the files you’ve specifically selected.
- All Eligible Files on This Device – Clears all cached media that the device no longer needs based on your current sync settings.
- Then, select which cached content to remove. You’ll have the option to check boxes for Optimized and/or Originals—choose one or both depending on what you’d like to clear. Click Remove to confirm and remove the selected files.

Hi Eva - In order for clearing the cache to work, those files need to be safely saved to at least one Vault device. Additionally, Mylio Photos will not delete files from your camera roll (it is a one-way sync) unless you use the Free Up Space option. Hello,
i have had the problem all along since using Mylio, that i cannot clear my cache. The Button is there and its offering over 10.000 Originals in cache, but when i click yes it either collapses or counts up the numbers until the end and then nothing is changed.
Am I correct for thinking Mylio has the right to go into my Camera Roll and delete Photos that are saved in Mylio? Thank you for the support. Eva
