Moving a folder into Mylio Photos relocates its files, and any subfolders, from their current location into a folder already managed by Mylio. The original folder is removed once the move is complete, freeing up space on your internal or external drive.

This option is ideal if you’re consolidating and organizing your media into a single, centralized location and no longer need to keep a separate copy elsewhere.

  1. Click the Add Media icon in the top app bar.
  2. Select Add media accessible from this device. A file browser window (Windows Explorer or macOS Finder) will open.
  3. Navigate to the folder you want to move, then click Open.
  4. In the How do you want to get these photos into Mylio Photos? dialog, select Move Folder Contents.
  5. In the Move files dialog:
    • Source: Confirm the folder you selected.
    • Destination: Choose a location already managed by Mylio Photos where the folder will be moved.
    • Categories (optional): Assign relevant categories to help organize the imported media.
    • Exclude suspected duplicate files: Enabled by default. Prevents moving files already in your Mylio Photos Library.
    • Delete files after adding them: Enabled by default when moving. This permanently removes the source files after they’re moved to the new location.
    • Show Advanced Settings: Epand for more organization options and to include additional metadata during import. Learn more.
  6. Click Move Now to move the folder into your Mylio Photos Library.
