Mylio Photos+ supports backing up your photo library to any S3-compatible storage, including NAS devices that offer S3 support. This allows your NAS to act as a Vault, providing a secure and private backup location on your local network or remotely.

Before beginning the steps below, you’ll need to set up your NAS to provide S3-compatible access. This includes creating a Server Endpoint (URL), Access Key, and Secret Key. One popular way to enable this functionality is by installing and configuring MinIO, an open-source, S3-compatible object storage service. For guidance on setting up users and credentials, refer to the MinIO user management documentation.

Once your NAS is set up as an S3-compatible server, you can proceed with connecting it to Mylio Photos+.

Adding your S3 Personal Cloud to Mylio Photos+

  1. Click the Dashboard icon  in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Devices then click or tap the Add Device button at the top of the Devices section, then choose Cloud Service from the Add Device dialog.

  1. Choose S3 Compatible Cloud or NAS Storage.

  1. Choose either Encrypt my files or Don’t encrypt my files. Then click the Add Cloud Drive button.

  1. Enter the Server Endpoint (URL), Access Key, and Secret Key.

  1. Click the Connect button. Once the connection is complete, you’ll see a success message.
  2. Mylio Photos+ will analyze the Cloud service you choose and recommend a setup based on your Mylio Photos Library size and the available storage of the Cloud service you’re adding. To choose a different setup, click Custom Setup and select the Sync Policy Preset you’d like to use. Want to create a custom Device Sync Policy? Click here to learn how.
  3. Once you’ve selected your preferred sync policy, click or tap the Looks Good button to complete the setup. Your NAS will be added and visible in the Devices section of the Dashboard.

Hi Celest - My best recommendation is to visit forum.mylio.com and do a search for Qnap. There are several posts from other users, and they may be helpful in setting up your NAS. If you’re unable to find a solution, please reach out to our support team directly via the in-app Help menu.

I'm trying to set up a vault with Qnap personal cloud on my NAS. I have the server endpoint, access key, and secret key but Mylio is not connecting.
