Sharing and exporting your photos and videos in Mylio Photos is easy, whether you’re using a desktop or a mobile device. With a variety of options, you can send your media to others, post to social platforms, or export files for personal use. This chapter covers all the available methods, helping you make the most of Mylio Photos’ sharing features.

Click the Share icon , choose your sharing method (Email, Export, Get Shareable Link, etc.), and adjust the settings as needed.

Export Options

Preset

Select a preset to quickly configure your export options.

  • For Email: This preset reduces the file size while maintaining sufficient quality for sending images via email, ensuring faster transmission and compatibility with common email attachment limits.
  • For Presentation: Optimized for high-resolution presentations, this preset ensures that images maintain sharpness and detail when displayed on large screens or in professional slideshows.
  • For Social Media: This preset balances high-quality output with small file size, making it ideal for sharing images on social media platforms while ensuring fast load times and optimal display.
  • JPEG – High Quality: This preset is suitable for high-quality exports where image detail is important. It is also suitable for sharing images that don’t require maximum resolution but still need to retain visual integrity.
  • JPEG – Maximum Quality: This preset is designed for archival purposes or situations where the highest image quality is critical. It preserves all possible detail in the original image.
  • JPEG – Medium Quality: This preset creates smaller file sizes by reducing quality slightly, making it suitable for scenarios where quick sharing or space-saving is a priority without sacrificing too much image clarity.
  • Printing – High Quality: This preset is ideal for professional printing where maximum detail and color accuracy are essential, such as large-scale or high-resolution prints.
  • Printing – Standard Quality: This preset is suitable for everyday prints. It provides high-quality output while keeping the file size manageable for typical print jobs.

File Type
  • JPEG – useful for web and multimedia applications
  • PNG – higher quality, web-friendly file format
  • TIFF – perfect for printing or image archival
  • Unmodified Original – create a copy of the original file, and ignore any edits that were made in Mylio Photos

Dimensions
  • Small – Great for quick sharing via email or messaging apps. This option significantly reduces pixel dimensions and file size.
  • Medium – Optimized for screen display, such as slideshows, websites, or social media, while maintaining decent image clarity.
  • Large – A high-quality export suitable for repurposing or sharing online where more detail is desired.
  • Extra Large – Near-original quality with minimal compression, ideal for high-resolution screen use or light printing.
  • Original – Exports the image at its full, original dimensions with no resizing.
  • Custom (longer side) – Enter a specific pixel value to define the maximum length of the image’s longer side. The shorter side is scaled proportionally to maintain aspect ratio.

Quality

The Quality setting determines the level of image compression applied during export. Higher quality results in larger file sizes with more visual detail.

  • Low – Heavily compressed for the smallest file size. Best for quick previews or low-bandwidth sharing where quality is not critical.
  • Medium – Balanced compression and image clarity. Suitable for casual sharing and most web uses.
  • High – Minimal compression with excellent image quality. Ideal for portfolios, presentations, or client previews.
  • Maximum – Exports at the highest possible quality with virtually no visible compression. Recommended for archiving, printing, or professional delivery.

Color Space
  • sRGB – sRGB is the narrowest color space but is most compatible with web and email for digital viewing.
  • Display P3 – Display P3 is primarily used by Apple in wide gamut displays. This color space is not supported by all devices.
  • Adobe RGB – Adobe RGB is a standard color space used in computer graphics and many software applications and is often used to create physical prints.
  • ProPhoto RGB – ProPhoto RGB is the widest color space and supports the broadest range of colors. This is the only color space containing all colors captured in a raw photo. This color space is optimal for images that will be edited further in other applications.

Bit Depth

Available for PNG and TIFF File Types. Bit depth measures how much color is available for the display or printing of each pixel.

  • 8-Bit – The most common bit depth. An 8-bit image will display a little more than 16 million colors.
  • 16-Bit – Provides editing flexibility but can increase file sizes and processing times. A 16-bit image will be able to display over 280 trillion colors.
  • Auto – Mylio Photos will choose the appropriate bit-depth for your export based on the quality of the original.

SafeShare

Photos often contain sensitive information about the people in them or where they were captured. This information is excellent for searching your Mylio Photos library and recording important family history information, but it doesn’t need to be posted to public websites. When you enable the SafeShare option on export, all metadata is stripped from your photo. SafeShare strips all exported image(s) metadata, including Camera EXIF, Description and Keywords, Ratings, Copyright, IPTC, People, and Places.

Metadata

When SafeShare is disabled, you can manually choose which metadata is included in your exported files.

  • Camera EXIF – Include camera model, lens, exposure, and white balance information.
  • Caption and Keywords – Include caption, title, keywords, and author.
  • Ratings – Include photo ratings, if available.
  • Copyright – Include copyright information.
  • IPTC – Include IPTC creator fields.
  • People – Include person’s name and face tagging info. Does not include phone numbers or birthdays.
  • Places – Include GPS information, if available.
  • Library Identifiers – Include the original file name and unique file ID for your Mylio Photos Library.

Apply Watermark

Toggle the Apply Watermark switch to the ON position to add a visible overlay on top of the image to indicate the creator or status of the picture.

File Naming

If two or more files are selected for export, you can rename them as a group. Click here to learn more about file renaming options.

Duplicate Files

If two or more files are selected for export, you can choose how Mylio Photos proceeds if a file with the same name already exists.

  • Unique Name – Chooses a unique name for the file and proceeds with the export.
  • Overwrite – Overwrites (deletes) the existing file and replaces it with the file exported from Mylio Photos.
  • Skip – Does not export the file.

Folder Options

When exporting multiple photos or folders from Mylio Photos, you can choose how the exported files are organized on your storage location:

  • Flat – Preserves the original folder structure from your Mylio Photos Library. This is ideal when exporting a large or organized set of folders, and you want to maintain context or groupings.
  • Hierarchical – Exports all selected media into a single folder, without retaining the original folder hierarchy. This is useful when you want all files in one place for easier access or bulk use.
