Mylio Photos+ includes an External Changes Policy (formerly called Safe Delete) that helps you manage what happens when files are deleted using your computer’s file system, outside of the Mylio Photos application. This feature is especially useful when you’re organizing your media directly from macOS Finder or Windows File Explorer.
When a file is deleted outside of Mylio Photos, this policy determines how Mylio Photos+ will respond. The setting is configured per device and gives you control over whether deleted files should be restored, removed only from the current device, or deleted from your entire Mylio Photos+ Library.
External Changes Policy Options
You can choose from three options:
- Restore files deleted in the Operating System – If the original-quality file is available on another device (like a Vault), Mylio Photos+ will restore the deleted file on the current device. This is the default setting.
- Remove original copy on this device only – The file is removed only from this device, freeing up space. If the original exists elsewhere, it remains intact on other devices.
- Remove deleted files on all devices (and remove them from Mylio Photos+) – This will permanently delete the file from all devices and remove it from your Mylio Photos+ Library. Use with caution.
Modifying Safe Delete Settings
- Click the Dashboard icon
in the left sidebar.
- Select Devices, then click on the device you’d like to configure.
- Scroll to the External Changes Policy section.
- Choose the desired behavior:
- Restore files deleted in the Operating System
- Remove original copy on this device only
- Remove deleted files on all devices (and remove them from Mylio Photos+)
