Sync on Demand allows devices storing low-quality Thumbnails to temporarily download and show a higher resolution Optimized Image without permanently taking up storage space on their device. This is useful when you choose to view an image that only has a Thumbnail available locally.

For example, you may browse to a low-quality image Thumbnail on your tablet. However, a computer with higher-quality images is connected. In this case, the higher-quality file will automatically be sent to the iPad for viewing. Once done, it is removed from the iPad cache when you navigate to a new photo.

Sync on Demand is turned ON by default. You can disable or re-enable it at any time.

  1. Click or tap the ellipsis icon in the Top App Bar to access the More menu and choose Settings.
  2. Select Sync, then toggle the Sync on Demand option to the OFF or ON position as needed.
